Four People Rescued From Flats

2 pumps and a wholetime officer from Launceston were mobilised to reports of an explosion above a Public House in Exeter Street.

On arrival crews stated smoke was issuing from all floors of the building and persons were reported to be in the premise. A further 3 pumps were requested, crews from Callington, Liskeard Devon and Bude were also mobilised, alongside specialist appliances from St Austell.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent into the building and rescued a total of 4 people from flats above the public house. They used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire and are now in the process of ventilating the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Police and Ambulance were also in attendance at this incident.

Update: The stop message was received at 1745 hours and all appliances have now returned to their respective stations.
