Chimney Fire

One appliance from Penzance Fire Station attended a report of a fire involving a chimney. The fire was located in the chimney stack but was difficult to reach, firefighters used a ladder to access the chimney from the roof and secured themselves using lines. The fire was extinguished used chimney rods, a hearth kit and one hose reel.
During 2014/15 Cornwall firefighters tackled 204 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable. Regular inspection and cleaning of chimney flues will help prevent fires within chimneys. For more information visit our website:
