Property Fire

Helston at 24/05/2016 13:31

At 13:31 today a call was received from the occupant of a property reporting a kitchen fire. Three appliances from Helston and Mullion were mobilised to the incident. The fire in a two storey domestic dwelling was located in the ground floor kitchen. Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one extinguisher, one safety jet and one covering jet to extinguish the fire. The crews isolated gas and electricity and ventilated the property. The fire is confirmed to be involving a tumble drier, confined to the kitchen and accidental.

Tumble dryers and washing machines contain powerful motors with fast moving parts that get very hot. If you do not clean and maintain your machine, excess fluff or lint can build up over time and catch fire. Please read our web page about washing machine and tumble dryers. There is also important safety information about the current product recalls for Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline Tumble Dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015.
