A call was received to a property in Padstow where there was a strong smell of ammonia coming from an upstairs room. One appliance from Padstow with six riders on were mobilised to scene, a Hazardous Materials officer was also informed of the incident details. On crews arrival firefighters used two breathing apparatus to investigate and removed a wine cooler from the property which was identified as leaking. Firefighters naturally ventilated the property and carried out casualty care to the five occupants of the premise. Ambulance was requested to attend to check the occupants due to their suspected exposure to refrigerant gas. All five casualties were conveyed to hospital via land Ambulance.
