At 23:47 a 999 call was received from an Security Guard who was checking on a building where an alarms had sounded. On arrival at the building, the alarm was a fire alarm and there was smoke in the building. Two appliances with twelve firefighters from Launceston were mobilised to the scene. The building involved measured 10 x 8 metres and consisted of two floors. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire. At 00:14 the fire was confirmed out, crews wearing breathing apparatus ventilated the building before leaving scene.
