Kitchen Fire

On receipt of this call appliances from Helston and Falmouth were mobilised, on arrival the crews found a fire in the kitchen which involved the dishwasher, in a semi detached two storey building, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hosereel jet and a co2 extinguisher to extinguish the fire, crew then proceeded to ventilate the premises.

Cooking related fires can be very dangerous and over the past three years there have been two deaths and six serious injuries due to this type of incident. Nearly all of these fires occurred in the kitchen and the majority are related to the oven (60%) and then the grill/ toaster (15%).
