Two appliances from Padstow and a Flexi Duty Officer attended a call to a property with a chimney fire. On arrival Firefighters cleared out the fire pit in the cottage and used a stirrup pump, chimney rods and small tools to tackle the fire. The chimney was difficult as the fire involved a timber lintel within the property.

During 2014/15 Cornwall firefighters tackled 204 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable by having them swept regularly.
