One appliance from St Ives, an Environmental Support Vehicle and an appliance from Penzance attended this incident.

A drum was found washed up on the beach, containing an unknown substance. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus placed the container into an overdrum and sealed it to make it safe. The overdrum and contents will be collected by a specialist company for safe disposal. We believe the contents are non-hazardous but please could we ask that all members of the public stay away from the site. Once removed the waste disposal company will analyse and identify the most appropriate disposal method. We also ask that you report any further sightings to either the Coastguard or Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service on 999.
