A First Responder crew from Penzance Community Fire Station assisted Ambulance with an incident. The crew monitored the patient until an ambulance arrived.

From the 1 July 2015, Penzance Community Fire Station undertook a pilot scheme titled ‘First Responders’. This community fire station provides additional response, attending only medical emergencies involving Cardiac incidents (Category 1 Red Calls) where a defibrillator is required.

The pilot is in partnership with SWASFT, our First Responders will be dispatched at the same time as an ambulance and do not replace the usual emergency medical response from SWASFT but give them an additional resource.

From 1 July 2016, we have attended in excess of 40 First Responder calls.
