Chimney Fire

Fire service received a call at 2200 hours to a chimney fire at a property in Poughill. One appliance from Bude Community Fire Station attended. Crews removed a wood burning stove from the property and used a stirrup pump, rods, hose reel and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
During 2015/16 Cornwall firefighters tackled 124 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable by having them swept regularly.
