Mud Rescue

Newham, Truro at 01/03/2017 15:51

On receipt of this call from Devon & Cornwall Police, reporting two persons trapped in the mud, an appliance from Truro and a water rescue unit from Falmouth were mobilised as well as two wholetime officers.
On arrival the casualties were found to be approximately ten feet down and three metres from the bank in mud. Fire and Rescue personnel used a triple extension ladder and an inflatable mud path to reach the casualties and bring them to firm ground. Both casualties were treated by attending ambulance personnel and transferred to hospital. Devon & Cornwall Police were also in attendance.

If you ever find yourself stuck in mud, try to spread your weight as much as possible, avoid moving, stay as calm as you can and shout for help. Never put yourself at risk by attempting to rescue another (or a bottle of wine!)
