One appliance from Perranporth and one appliance from St Austell, who were on standby in the Truro area due to the fire at St Day, attended this incident.
The crews used beaters and hosereels to extinguish the area of gorse which measured 200m x 30m and was fanned by strong winds. The cause was believed to be arson and has been logged with the Police.
Arson does not only threaten lives and damage property it has a detrimental effect on communities and the lives of people within them.
Anyone with information on fires being deliberately started are advised to anonymously call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 or contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information.
