Twelve firefighters on two appliances from Callington and Liskeard attended a call to a property with a chimney fire and smoke coming from under the roof tiles. On crews arrival the chimney was well alight and the roof space of the building was smoke logged. Crews used a thermal imaging camera and one hose reel on the fire. Once firefighters had removed the wood burner a stirrup pump and chimney was also used on the fire.

During 2015/16 Cornwall firefighters tackled 124 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable by having them swept regularly.
