On receipt of multiple 999 calls to a large fire in this area, fire appliances from Liskeard and Bodmin were mobilised.
Update 14:02 hrs - 27/04/17: Additional appliances from Bodmin, Wadebridge, Callington, Looe, Launceston, St Austell, Newquay and St Dennis have been mobilised.
Update 15:44 hrs - 27/04/17: In total we have 5 Pumps, 2 Water Carriers, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform, 1 BA Support Vehicle, 1 Incident Command Unit, 1 Welfare Unit and 4 Flexi Officers in attendance. The police are also in attendance as the road adjacent to this incident is now closed.
Update 16:00 hrs - 27/04/17: The High Volume Pump from Newquay has been requested and mobilised to the scene.
Update 17:30 hrs - 27/04/17: Make pumps 8 request, Additional crews have been mobilised.
Update 22:00 hrs - 27/04/17: Crews have been making steady progress throughout the evening, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been committed at the scene, the high volume pump is in use, the aerial ladder platform is in use, main jets and ground monitors are in use.
Currently there are appliances from Lostwithiel, St. Austell Wadebridge, Fowey anf the water carrier from Helston are in attendance. This is as well as the Command Unit from Launceston, the Operational Support Unit from St. Austell and the Welfare Vehicle from St. Dennis.
Update 05:15 hrs - 28/04/17: Cornwall Fire and Rescue service are making steady progress on the fire at the scrap yard. Relief crews from across the county have been used over night and currently on scene there are four major appliances from Delabole, Polruan, Saltash and Callington. Two water carriers from Wadebridge and Helston are shuttling water to the scene. Specialist firefighting equipment in use includes a High Volume Pump, Foam Pod, and Aerial ladder platform with platform monitor in use firefighting from a height. Support vehicles which have remained on scene include a Command Support Unit, and Welfare vehicle. Two Flexi Duty Officers are managing the incident. Crews are continuing their sustained attack on the fire to dampen it down. It is expected this incident to continue well into Friday 28th April. Some local roads remain closed. There are no more details available on this incident at this time.
Update 18:16 hrs - 28/04/17: Crews have remained on scene today, they have come from Truro, Bodmin, Padstow, Mevagissey, Newquay and Bude. They have been continuing to fight the fire and at 1521 the message came back that all fires were now extinguished . Crews have remained on scene using the thermal image camera to assess the scene and then to damp down any hotspots. At 1816 the crews are continuing to make up equipment and scene.
Update 19:29 hrs - 28/04/17: The last remaining crews on scene are from Newquay who are making up the High Volume Pump and the High Volume Hose Layer.
Update 21:19 hrs - 28/04/17: All appliances have now left the scene and are returning to their home stations.
Update 23:52 hrs - 28/04/17: All appliances have returned to their home station. There are now no appliances on scene.
