Summerleaze Beach, Bude at 15/08/2017 17:06
One fire appliance from Bude Community Fire Station attended a report of an eleven year old girl with her leg trapped between a railing and a wall. RNLI Lifeguards were already in attendance caring for the girl. Firefighters used crash rescue equipment to bend the rail enough to free the girl's leg. She had been trapped for about 30 minutes but was none the worse for her ordeal.
After crews dealt with the incident above they spotted two BBQ's by the recycling bins which were still very hot - so they cooled them with two buckets of water.
Although most barbecues present no problems, there have been examples of fires, serious injuries and deaths caused by the use of flammable liquids or sitting barbecues too close to fences, garden sheds, buildings or trees.
