Six firefighters on one appliance from Bude attended a call to a gas pipe which had been damaged by Utilities Contractors. The pipe was leaking gas underground and was venting through two open man hole covers. Six houses in the residential area were evacuated and Police was asked to close the road. Firefighters maintained scene safety by preventing any sources of ignition from reaching the leaking gas until Gas Engineers were in attendance and were able to isolate the leak.
