One fire appliance from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station attended a fire in a field of barley. Firefighters used beaters and one hosereel to extinguish the fire that had spread to involve 200 metres by 5 metres.

Every year we attend numerous fires on farms, where buildings are completely destroyed by fire, often with the loss of large amounts of stock, straw, hay, farm machinery, chemicals and even livestock.
We have produced a booklet in partnership with Cornish Mutual and NFU Mutual to help farms comply with the new fire laws.
The booklet contains the information on the following:
• What you’re required to do by law
• Fire safety risk assessments
• If a fire breaks out
• Controlled burning
• Dangerous substances
• Arson
