Water Related Incidents

The first call was received at 11:05 this morning. This was to reports of a van stuck in a ford with water rising and the driver stuck in the vehicle.
Water rescue crews from St. Austell and Bude subsequently attended further water related incidents across east Cornwall.

Update:
St. Kew area: 1105 hours. Water rescue vehicles from St. Austell and Bude were mobilised to this incident, where a van was stuck knee deep in a fast flowing ford, appliances from Wadebridge and Bodmin also attended with three wholetime officers. Trained Fire Service Water Operatives entered the water and secured the vehicle and then proceeded to rescue one casualty, who was recovered to the bank side and was then assessed by an attending paramedic.

St. Tudy area: 1227 hours: The water rescue teams from St. Austell and Bude were sent on to this incident, on arrival it was found that a car had been moved out of flood water by members of the public to dry land, an ambulance was requested to check the condition of one person.

Bolventor area: 1430 hours: Once again the water rescue resources from St. Austell and Bude were mobilised as well as appliances from Liskeard, Bodmin and Launceston as well as three wholetime officers. Crews found a significant amount of water in the Draynes Valley area and immediately requested a road closure. Two vehicles were found in flood water, fortunately all occupants of the vehicles were out of the car and on the roadside.

Lansallos area: 1512 hours: For this incident the water rescue teams from St. Austell and Bude as well as appliances from Polruan, Looe, Bodmin and Launceston were mobilised as well as three wholetime officers. On arrival there were found to be two persons trapped in a vehicle in approximately three feet of water, the car was recovered from the water and the persons within were found to be fit and well.

Canworthy Water: 1621 hours: The water rescue teams from St. Austell and Bude and appliances from Delabole, Callington, Bodmin and Launceston as well as Wholetime Officers were mobilised to this incident. Crews were responding to a reported vehicle stranded in a ford, whilst on route crews came across a road traffic collision with a car on its side, crews gave general assistance at scene, before continuing to the original incident, on arrival it was found that the occupants of the vehicle were fortunately recovered to the side of the road.
