On receipt of this call, appliances from St. Columb and St. Dennis were mobilised, on arrival the crews found a hay baler well alight, the fire was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using a high pressure hosereel. The cause was accidental.

Every year we attend numerous fires on farms, where buildings are completely destroyed by fire, often with the loss of large amounts of stock, straw, hay, farm machinery, chemicals and even livestock.

We have produced a booklet in partnership with Cornish Mutual and NFU Mutual to help farms comply with the new fire laws.

The booklet contains the information on the following:
• What you’re required to do by law
• Fire safety risk assessments
• If a fire breaks out
• Controlled burning
• Dangerous substances
• Arson
