Chimney Fire

Appliances from Hayle and Tolvaddon attended a call to a chimney fire on St Johns street. Crews used one triple extension ladder, chimney rods, a hose reel, covering jet and small gear to clear the flue and extinguish the fire. Once the fire was confirmed out crews remained on the scene monitoring hot spots.
During 2015/16 Cornwall firefighters tackled 124 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable by having them swept regularly.
