Cornwall County Fire Brigade has launched its draft Service Plan for 2005 / 2006. The plan outlines the priorities of Cornwall County Fire Brigade for 2005 / 2006 and how it will continue to make Cornwall the safest place in which to live, work and/or visit.
The Brigade would like everyone’s views on this publication to help it to shape the future of the fire service in Cornwall, and make sure this meets the expectations of all.
The Government set out an objective last year that required all UK Fire Authorities to undertake a fundamental review of how they provided their services. This process is dynamic and as a result of a review is carried out on an annual basis. Cornwall’s Service Plan is the product of our second annual review.
“The Service Plan provides an agenda for truly modernising our Fire Service and putting Cornwall County Fire Brigade in the hub of our community safety actions” said Davinia Grist, Public Relations Officer
She cont: “The brigade aims to make lives and property safer and not just from fire. Our plan is a radical approach to what many of us consider to be the most important issue in our lives - safety”
The Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) process will continue to evolve over a number of years with a long term 5 year plan being identified. However in the plan a number of initiatives have been identified which we wish to pursue during 2005 / 06.
The Initiatives are:
• Develop our work with young people
• Target our community safety activities effectively
• Improve our operational capability
• Maintain a healthy and safe work force
• Reduce the effects of arson
• Make the best use of our staff
• Ensure that we do not discriminate
• Play an active part in the regional agenda
• Work with partners
• Develop our staff
• Improve our approach to business planning
• Comply with legal and government requirements
