One crew from Torpoint and one from Saltash attended a house fire in the early hours of this morning.
A fire control operator managed to keep the lady calm on the phone as the crews made their way to the fire. When they arrived at the scene firefighters rescued the occupant, and her two pet dogs, safely and quickly from the window.
Firefighters administered oxygen at the scene. An ambulance was also in attendance. The occupant had slight smoke inhalation but did not need to go to hospital.
The fire was caused by an electrical fault in a plug in the lounge.
The property did not have a working smoke alarm, and it was fortunate that the occupant got out safetly.
All homes should have a working smoke alarm on every floor as they are your only warning in the event of a fire. They should be checked once a week. For free safety advice please call 0800 3581 999.
