Hay Bale Fire

A call was received by the Critical Control Centre at 16:32hrs reporting a fire in the area of Nancecuke Common, near Porthtowan.

An appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station was mobilised to the area to investigate. The crew found a number of hay bales well alight. The crew started using a hose reel jets and requested another pump to provide additional water.

A further appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station was mobilised.

Update 1840 hours:
Two appliances are still at this incident, crews continue to split the hay bales and fire fight, using two hose reel jets. A nearby hydrant is also in use.

Update 2000 hours:
The fire has now been extinguished and crews are returning to their home station. The cause was accidental.
