This evening appliances from Tolvaddon and Perranporth Community Fire Stations have been mobilised to reports of smoke and flames seen in the open. Both crews discovered controlled burning's that members of the public had failed to inform us of.
If you are planning a bonfire in Cornwall, inform the Fire and Rescue Service before you start by calling our Critical Control Centre on 0203 162 2240.
Tell the Critical Control Operator:
• Your location.
• Time you intend to start burning.
• Confirm when you have finished burning.
• Have your Environment agency exemption reference number ready.
If you do not have an EA Exemption, click here to find out how to obtain one.
This helps us avoid sending fire engines to false alarms when they could be responding to a real emergency.
