Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from Devon and Cornwall Housing reporting a person stuck in a lift in Pendennis Close, Penzance.
One pump from Penzance Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a elderly person stuck in an external stair lift.
Crews assisted to release the door to the stair lift and released the person trapped.
