At 12:37 this afternoon the Critical Control Centre received an emergency call regarding a vehicle fire.

One appliance from Tolvaddon was mobilised to the incident. On arrival the crew found one van, well alight. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one main jet to extinguish the fire.

Arson is suspected and Devon and Cornwall Police have been informed.

Anyone with information on fires being deliberately started in the countryside are advised to anonymously call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 or contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information.
Arson puts both the public and firefighters at unnecessary risk. It ties up resources that could be in demand for more serious incidents.
