At 19:12 this evening Critical Control received an emergency call regarding a residential fire.
Two fire appliances from Saltash and one appliance from Devon attended the incident. On arrival crews confirmed that an electrical fan was on fire.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one dry powder extinguisher and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
Electricity is often overlooked as a possible fire hazard. This may be because there is no flame. However, some 28,000 fires in the home are reported each year as being caused by electrical faults, accidents or misuse of electrical equipment.
