Fire In Newquay

At 0054 hrs on Monday 13th December 2004, fire control received calls reporting a fire at a house in Island Crescent, Newquay. Fire, Police and Ambulance personnnel attended the scene, in total there were 4 fire appliances from Newquay, St Columb and Perranporth, together with the fire command vehicle from Truro and 32 fire fighters. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation, with police scenes of crime officers together with fire investigation officers conducting an examination of the scene at daylight. As a result of the fire there has been one fatality, and a female is seriously injured, she is currently in intensive care at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, Truro, her condition at this time is serious. No names have yet been released.
