Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting smoke issuing at Cornwall Services, off A30, Victoria. Two pumps from Bodmin, one pump from St Dennis Community Fire Stations and a wholetime officer was immediately mobilised by Critical Control.
On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a small fire in an extractor unit above a pizza oven. The building was evacuated on arrival of our crews. Fire crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
The fire was confirmed as accidental and confined. A handover form was completed and the incident was left safe and in the hands of the onsite manager.
