Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting a chimney fire at a property in Whitstone, Holsworthy. One pump from Bude Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a chimney fire and located the hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. Crews accessed the register plate and removed large amounts of hot embers and ash.
A handover form was completed and the incident was left safe and in the hands of the occupants.
Over the last three years Cornwall firefighters have tackled 571 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable by having them swept regularly.
