Chemical Incident

Oakfield Road, Falmouth at 23/03/2018 17:00


A call was received from Ambulance at 15:00 requesting the attendance of The Fire Service to a female who had been taken ill after inhaling fumes from chemicals.
Appliances from Truro and Tolvaddon were mobilised along with a support vehicle from St Just and The Environment Support Vehicle from Penzance. On arrival two casualties were outside with Paramedics suffering with the effects of chemical fume inhalation. Firefighters entered the property wearing breathing apparatus to locate and identify the chemicals that had been mixed, before removing them to the outside and ventilating the home. After thorough investigation it was confirmed that the gas produced was chlorine and all persons were taken to RCH Treliske for examination.
