The Brigade responded to a report of a barn on fire in Gulval, Penzance. Pumping appliances were sent from Penzance, St.Just, Camborne and Helston. A further 4 specialist appliances from neighbouring stations were ordered on. On arrival we found a farm building 20m x 15 m well alight. The barn contained acetylene cylinders and the police evacuated 5 properties as a precaution. The occupants are all staying with relatives. The Brigade used 3 jets to extinguish the fire and make safe the cylinders. Stn.o. Carlisle officer in charge.
