The occupant of a terraced property in Wooda Road Launceston went to bed around 2 am and was alerted just over 2 hours later by the smoke alarm sounding. The occupant escaped the property by the first floor window and called the Fire Brigade. We received a 999 call at 0429. 2 fire engines from Launceston attended and found the property totally smoke logged. The crew wore breathing apparatus and used a hosereel to extinguish the fire which was caused by smoking materials left in a chair on the ground floor. The crew gave oxygen therapy to the occupant who was suffering slight smoke inhalation, he was then taken to hospital by an Ambulance crew. The property was ventilated by the Brigade using their positive pressure ventilation fan and by 0552 they had returned to station,
