2 appliances from Torpoint attended a chimney fire that had spread to a partition wall. The crews cut away the wall and ceiling to gain access to the fire. One hosereel and a thermal imaging camera were used.

General Fire Safety Advice: Chimneys
• Fires in the chimney can spread to the rest of your house, with devastating consequences
• It is recommended that in normal use chimneys should be swept as follows:
At least once a year by a competent chimney sweep, if you burn smokeless fuel
Twice a year if you regularly burn wood.
This will ensure the flue is not blocked and allows smoke and gases to escape safely.
If you suspect you have a chimney fire, dial 999 and call the Fire Brigade out.
