Unattended Bonfire Spread

Treloggan Industrial Estate, Newquay at 27/01/2005 22:02

One appliance from Newquay attended. The crew dealt with a bonfire, which had been left to burn out, that had instead spread to gorse and sawdust. Beaters and a hosereel were used.

Fortunately, on this occasion, the fire had not spread to property. Had the fire spread undetected during the night, many thousands of pounds worth of damage may have been caused.

Bonfires should never be left unattended. If leaving a bonfire ensure that it has been thoroughly extinguished to ensure that it will not re-ignite.
