Fire In Building

Newquay Road, Goonhavern at 10/02/2005 08:12

2 appliances from Perranporth and one appliance from Newquay attended. On discovering the building full of smoke, the caller very wisely did not attempt to enter the building. Instead they took exactly the right actions by calling the fire brigade using 999 from a mobile telephone or other telephone outside of the building. They then waited outside until the arrival of the crews.

Firefighters with 2 hosereels and wearing breathing apparatus then entered the building, measuring 5 metres by 30 metres, to locate the fire which was confined to a heater. The smoke was vented from the premises using positive pressure ventilation.

Several large parrots and parakeets were rescued by firefighters.
