At 20:02 this evening the Critical Control Centre received a call stating that a train power car was on fire in the platform at Penzance Railway Station. Appliances from Penzance and Hayle Community Fire Stations and a Wholetime Officer were mobilised to the scene. On arrival the crews sent the message of 'smoke issuing'.
20:11 Make Pumps Three message received and further crews from Penzance Community Fire Station mobilised.
20:14 Make Pumps Five message received. Appliances from St Just and St Ives were mobilised along with additional resources from Falmouth and another Wholetime Officer.
20:29 Message received from Wholetime Officer on scene stating that good progress is being made. Fire is isolated to engine compartment. Four Breathing Apparatus, two hose reel jets and two main jets, one safety jet and a thermal imaging camera in use.
22:27 Update. Can now be confirmed that fire was in the Train Power Car. The Power Car has now been moved from Penzance Railway Station to another location. Crews are still remaining with the Power Car checking for hotspots. Penzance Railway Station is now operating as normal.
