At 11:13 this morning the Critical Control Centre mobilised appliances from Looe, Liskeard and Torpoint. Along with a whole time officer to a garage fire.

On arrival the crews discovered one single storey detatched garage, well alight. Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, two thermal imaging cameras and a triple extension ladder to extinguish the fire.

Breathing apparatus has been withdrawn and crews remain on scene, damping down hotspots.

Fires happen when you least expect them, often during the night. They also spread very quickly, damaging property, killing and injuring people. A smoke alarm is a warning device that detects smoke at the earliest stages of a fire. When it detects a fire, it will make a piercing noise to alert or wake you.
