Hotel Fire

At 03:04 this morning (20/05/2018) a 999 call was received in the Critical Control Centre (Fire Control) with reports of a fire in the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay. Hotel staff raised the alarm and had started to evacuate. Two major pumping appliances and the Ariel Ladder Platform were mobilised on the initial call. The first appliance to leave Newquay Community Fire Station made pumps 4 as flames could be seen coming from the hotel. Additional Fire appliances and resources were mobilised from Perranporth, St Columb, St Dennis and an additional Ariel Ladder from Truro along with the command support vehicle from St Just, the operational support vehicle from St Austell Community Fire Stations and two supervisory Officers.
Firefighters used six Breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, main jets and the Ariel ladder platform to extinguish the fire by 05:14
All persons have been accounted for and Fire crews working jointly with Police with help of hotel staff are relocating guests to a nearby hotel.
A full fire investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Ambulance also attended the incident to provide support and medical assistance.
