Cornwall County Fire Brigade is hosting an awards’ ceremony to include the presentation of Long Service and Good Conduct Medals and Cornwall County Council 25 Year Medals to Brigade personnel.
The Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal is awarded by her Majesty the Queen to honour those who have rendered long and meritorious service as members of Fire Brigades in the UK. The qualifying period for the award is a minimum of 20 years.
Those to receive the Long Service and Good Conduct medals are:

Leading Firefighter Ian Jewell (Wadebridge)
Firefighter Gary Hitchings (St Mawes)
All employees, on completion of 25 years’ service with Cornwall County Council are awarded a long service medal. Those to receive the medal are:

County Council Leader John Lobb said, “Ceremonies like this remind us all that some people are not just working for Cornwall County Council, they are local heroes as well. Congratulations to all the recipients of these well-deserved awards.”
Jill Ferrett, Executive Member for Public Protection, adds, “These are examples of long service, and in some cases very distinguished service, dedicated to keeping Cornwall safe. We owe all these people so much more than a medal, but nonetheless it is fitting that we show our gratitude in a ceremony like this.
George Findlay from Forrabury and Minster Parish Council will be welcoming the attendees on the evening, followed by the official presentation of the awards.
