Fire In Derelict Hotel

Queen Mary Road, Falmouth, (near Gyllingvase Beach) at 31/03/2005 18:50


2 appliances from Falmouth were in attendance within 5 minutes of the time of the first call to smoke issuing from a derelict hotel. The hotel measures about 20 metres by 20 metres and a fire was located at the rear of the building. Assistance was requested and an operational support vehicle attended from Falmouth, an appliance from Redruth and the aerial ladder platform from Truro. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 2 jets to bring the fire under control by 1957hrs. Arson is suspected and a Fire Investigation is being carried out.
