Smoke Alarm Alerts Occupant To Fire In Neighbours Flat

Pengelly, Delabole at 15/04/2005 15:20

One appliance from Delabole, one appliance from Wadebridge and one appliance from Bodmin attended a fire in a building divided into flats. The crews wearing breathing apparatus used one hosereel to extinguish the fire and search the affected flat for any casualties. Fortunately, on this occasion, there were none.

The smoke detector in the affected flat had no battery fitted and it was the smoke detector located in the communal hallway that alerted an occupant in a flat above to the fire. Had this incident happened at night whilst occupants were asleep, then crews may have found people trapped and unable to escape.
