Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting a hedge on fire near to Tregathenan, Sithney. One pump from Helston Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Critical Control.

On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a controlled burn, which had spread to a hedge. Crews started to extinguish the fire using two hose reel jets and a triple extension ladder. Good progress was being made and crews extinguished deep seated areas of the fire using a shovel, ceiling hook and hand saw.

The incident was confirmed as accidental and spread.
