Crews from Fowey and St Austell were mobilised when flames were reported in a shop. Twenty three further calls were received by the Operators at the Fire Control in Truro, indicating that the fire was rapidly spreading and that ammunition was involved. Further crews were sent from Lostwithiel, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay and Truro. The building of 2 floors, measuring 10 metres by 20 metres, was severely damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 2 jets and an aerial ladder platform to bring the fire under control by 2158hrs. Crews remained in attendance, damping down until just before 0200hrs.

Arson is suspected and a fire investigation is underway.
