Gwithian Towans at 14/07/2018 19:50

At 19:19 this evening the Critical Control Centre received an emergency call, reporting smoke coming from a bin.

One appliance from Hayle was mobilised to the incident. On arrival crews discovered smoke coming from a bin and used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of this fire was known to be a barbecue.

Although most barbecues present no problems, there have been examples of fires, serious injuries and deaths caused by the use of flammable liquids or sitting barbecues too close to fences, garden sheds, buildings or trees.
