On receipt of this call, crews from Torpoint were initially mobilised to the incident, on arrival crews found a fully developed fire which had spread to adjoining gorse and scrubland. Further resources were requested and personnel attended from Saltash and Liskeard, also the water carrier from Bodmin and the control unit from Truro attended. The chalet was totally destroyed in the incident and crews were deployed for a considerable time extinguishing and damping down the surrounding fires. At one stage it was thought that surrounding properties would have to be evacuated, but in the end the public were informed to stay in their properties and keep all windows closed. Firefighters at the scene were committed wearing breathing apparatus, also jets and hosereels were used. The final appliance returned to its home station at approximately 0530 hours.
