Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received multiple calls from members of the public reporting a fire on The Carn, Pendeen. Initially two pumps from St Just and one pump from Penzance Community Fire Station were immediately mobilised by Critical Control along with a whole time officer.

On arrival the officer in charge confirmed two acres of gorse alight. Crews started to tackle the fire using beaters and water. The officer in charge requested to make pumps three and 4x4 vehicles one for water. One pump and one 4x4 vehicle from St Ives Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Critical Control.

Crews are making good progress and have a water shuttle in place. Approximately one hundred meters of high gorse has been tackled with water and beaters. Arson was suspected for this incident.

Crews remain on scene at this time. More updates to follow shortly.
