Flat Fire

St Austell at 31/08/2018 01:07

A concerned resident of a small block of flats called 999 this morning as he could hear an alarm sounding in a neighbours property. It was believed something had been left on the cooker.

Two appliances from St Austell Fire Station, along with a whole-time fire officer were mobilised immediately. On arrival the crew stated "persons reported" which tells all oncoming crew and the control room that its thought a person maybe inside the property.

Firefighters quickly gained access to the flat, searched and reported back that all occupants had been accounted for. Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a safety jet to extinguish a pan fire. The fire was accidental and confined.

Devon and Cornwall Police also attended and the incident was handed over to them to secure the property.
