At 1539hrs Critical Control received a call from a resident reporting a fire in a flat. Two appliances from St Ives Community Fire Station were immediately mobilised. Control operators used local knowledge and the assistance of CCTV monitoring equipment within the Critical Control to quickly assess the situation and mobilise a further two appliances, one from Penzance and one from Hayle Community Fire Stations.
Specialist appliances from St Just, Falmouth and Truro were also mobilised as well as three Flexi Duty Officers.
On arrival of the St Ives crew they made the incident persons reported and then subsequently rescued one male casualty from the smoke filled property. He was given oxygen therapy for smoke inhalation and left in the care of paramedics.
The property covered 3 floors and measured approx. 15m by 10m, crew used 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hosereel jet and a thermal image camera to extinguish the fire.
The fire is now out and Fire Investigation Team are now on scene working with Police to ascertain the cause of the fire.
There are no further details of the incident.
