If your child loves the loud red fire engine, squirting water and wearing a big yellow hat – or, indeed, if you love all three – then come to Newquay’s Fire Station’s open day on 10th September 2005.
The day also includes a visit from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, Westcountry Ambulance and The Coastguard.
The firefighters from Newquay will be doing practical demonstrations of their fire fighting skills including a display of the Aerial Ladder Platform and crash rescue equipment. All money raised will be going to the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund. There will also be a variety of other entertainment including a clown for the kids.
“Anyone visiting can also sign up for a free home safety check and we will arrange to visit them in the near future, and ensure their homes have working smoke alarms” said Sub Officer Steve Wilkinson
He cont: “This is the community’s fire station and we hope that lots of people from our community will pay us a visit.”
